MODERN MANOR

Union, MO · Kitchen Renovation + ‘Guest Suite’ Room Edit

Scope: Kitchen · Guest Bedroom · Ensuite Bathroom

Modern Manor was an exercise in refinement—bringing a lighter, more intentional point of view to key spaces while respecting the traditional character of the home.

The project centered on a full kitchen renovation alongside a room edit of the guest suite, including the bedroom and ensuite bath. Throughout each space, the design balances classic architectural details with a softer, more contemporary sensibility: warm whites, natural wood, aged brass, tailored upholstery, and carefully considered contrast.

The result is a home that feels polished without feeling precious, timeless without feeling expected, and elevated while remaining entirely livable.

For this project, the goal wasn't to reinvent the home's identity. It was to reveal a more considered version of what was already there.

Rather than carrying one aesthetic treatment through every room, we created a consistent design language using material, tone, proportion, and detail. Warm neutrals establish the foundation while natural wood, brass finishes, subtle texture, and moments of deep contrast give the spaces definition.

The design language:

Warm whites · Natural oak · Aged brass · Charcoal contrast · Tailored textiles · Classic millwork · Organic texture

THE PROJECT

MODERN TRADITIONAL

CLASSIC FOUNDATIONS. MODERN VIEWPOINT.

THE DESIGN CONCEPT

Modern Manor draws from traditional residential architecture but removes the formality that can sometimes come with it.

The palette is intentionally restrained: creamy whites, warm oak, soft linen and woven textures, aged brass, and selective charcoal accents. Traditional silhouettes and millwork give the spaces permanence, while cleaner furnishings and simplified styling keep the home feeling current.

The contrast became especially important. Rather than designing an entirely light interior, darker elements were introduced strategically to anchor the softer palette and give the home more visual depth.

THE KITCHEN

THE HEART OF THE TRANSFORMATION

The kitchen received the most significant intervention and became the defining space of Modern Manor.

Warm white cabinetry creates a bright, architectural backdrop, while the dark island introduces weight and contrast at the center of the room. Brass hardware and oversized lantern pendants add warmth and a subtle traditional reference without making the space feel overly formal.

The existing character of the home informed the renovation, from the cabinetry proportions and millwork to the sculptural range hood and warm wood flooring.

The finished kitchen feels established rather than newly inserted—as though it belongs naturally to the architecture of the house.

THE GUEST SUITE

TRADITIONAL DETAILS, SOFTENED.

The ensuite continues the guest bedroom's quiet palette while leaning more heavily into the home's traditional architecture.

Warm white cabinetry, beadboard detailing, a framed brass mirror, and classic plumbing fixtures create a sense of permanence. Brass finishes bring warmth to an otherwise light room, while simple tile and restrained styling keep the bathroom feeling fresh.

It was designed to feel connected to the bedroom without becoming an exact continuation of it—the same warmth and restraint expressed through more architectural materials.

THE ENSUITE

QUIET, COMFORTABLE, INTENTIONALLY UNDERSTATED.

For the guest bedroom, the focus shifted from renovation to editing.

A soft tonal palette creates an immediate sense of calm, with layered ivory bedding, an upholstered bed, warm wood nightstands, woven textures, and understated botanical artwork.

Rather than filling the room with decorative elements, the design relies on proportion and texture. The woven ceiling fixture introduces just enough visual interest overhead, while linen drapery and natural materials soften the room.

The result is a guest space that feels welcoming and elevated without trying too hard.

THE DETAILS

Modern Manor is ultimately a study in how much impact can come from editing well.

Not every project requires changing everything.

Here, contrast was introduced where the home needed definition. Texture was layered where it needed warmth. Traditional details were preserved where they added character, and contemporary elements were introduced where they could make the spaces feel more relevant.

The result is a collection of rooms that feel connected not because they match, but because they share the same point of view.

Warm. Tailored. Timeless.

Modern Manor brings traditional design into the present through restraint, warmth, and thoughtful contrast—creating spaces designed to feel just as relevant years from now as they do today.
