BRISTOLECONE HOUSE

Scope: Renovation · Interior Design · Furnishing · Styling · Guest Experience Design

Sedona, AZ · Luxury Short-Term Rental Design

A warm, design-forward Sedona retreat shaped by its high-desert surroundings. Bristlecone House pairs natural textures, warm white oak, rich black accents, and layered neutrals to create a refined yet inviting escape—thoughtfully designed to elevate the guest experience while embracing the quiet, organic character of the landscape.

Bristlecone House called for a complete transformation that would elevate both the property and the guest experience while creating a stronger presence in Sedona’s competitive vacation rental market.

The scope extended well beyond furnishings. The kitchen and dining spaces were completely renovated, bathrooms were thoughtfully updated—including a full renovation of one ensuite—and a dedicated private wellness spa was created with a sauna, cold plunge, and massage tables.

Throughout the home, every decision was considered through both a design and hospitality lens: creating spaces that photograph beautifully, function effortlessly for guests, and feel connected to the natural character of Sedona.

The result is a warm, refined retreat where elevated interiors, thoughtful functionality, and wellness-driven amenities come together to create a more distinctive stay.

THE PROJECT

BEFORE

THE STARTING POINT

The existing home had strong bones and an incredible Sedona setting, but the interiors had become dated and were ready for a significant transformation. Finishes, furnishings, and key spaces lacked the cohesion and elevated experience needed to position the property at its full potential.

The design process began with a whole-home vision—reimagining the aesthetic, improving functionality, and identifying opportunities to create greater impact through renovation, furnishings, and new guest amenities. The goal was to transform the property into a warm, modern retreat that felt intentional and connected from one space to the next.

A FRESH TAKE ON SEDONA LIVING

THE VISION

Rather than leaning into expected Southwestern motifs, the design direction focused on a refined, contemporary interpretation of Sedona living.

Warm white oak, natural textures, sculptural forms, layered neutrals, rich black accents, and thoughtfully selected finishes create a home that feels grounded in its surroundings while remaining modern and elevated.

The vision was to create a retreat that feels warm, restorative, and distinctly connected to the high desert—without ever feeling themed.

FROM CONCEPT TO CREATION

Every successful transformation begins with a clear vision.

From the initial concept through renovation, furnishing, and final styling, each element of Bristlecone House was considered as part of a cohesive whole. Space planning, material selections, finishes, lighting, furnishings, and guest-focused details were developed together to ensure every decision supported both the design and the experience.

This process allowed us to refine each space before implementation and carry a consistent vision through every stage—transforming a dated property into a thoughtfully designed, hospitality-driven retreat.

THE DESIGN

Every detail was considered through the lens of the guest experience. From the flow of each room to the materials, furnishings, lighting, and finishing touches, the home was designed to feel intuitive, memorable, and elevated from arrival through departure.

DESIGNED TO BE EXPERIENCED

Shared spaces were reimagined to make spending time together feel effortless. The renovated kitchen and dining areas create a natural heart of the home, while comfortable, layered living spaces give groups room to gather, connect, and settle in.

SPACES MADE FOR GATHERING

The design draws from Sedona’s natural surroundings without relying on expected Southwestern themes. Warm woods, organic textures, earthy neutrals, and contrasting black details create an atmosphere that feels grounded, restorative, and distinctly removed from the everyday.

A SENSE OF ESCAPE

Wellness became part of the experience rather than an added amenity. A dedicated private spa featuring a sauna, cold plunge, and massage tables gives guests a space designed specifically for restoration—adding another layer of experience and differentiation to the property.

WELLNESS, BUILT IN

The transformation comes to life in the details.

From warm wood tones and layered textures to statement lighting, curated artwork, hardware, and thoughtful styling, every selection was made with intention. Together, these finishing layers bring depth and character to the home while reinforcing a cohesive design story from room to room.

THE DETAILS

What began as a dated property was reimagined into a warm, modern retreat designed for the way guests want to experience Sedona today.

Through thoughtful renovation, a completely new design direction, elevated furnishings, and the addition of experience-driven amenities, Bristlecone House was transformed from the inside out. The result is a cohesive, design-forward property that feels entirely renewed—while making the most of the home’s original character, setting, and potential.

FROM CONCEPT TO REALITY

THE TRANSFORMATION

Bristlecone House demonstrates the impact of approaching vacation rental design as both a transformation and an investment in the guest experience.

The finished property pairs a distinct design identity with elevated functionality, thoughtful gathering spaces, and wellness-driven amenities that create meaningful reasons to choose—and remember—the home. The result is a refined Sedona retreat designed to stand apart in a competitive hospitality market while delivering the comfort, character, and experience today’s luxury traveler expects.
